Psychology support for people living with diabetes

Living with diabetes can be relentless. Even when things may look fine from the outside, the internal load can be heavy — constant decisions, constant vigilance, frustration, burnout, fear, and pressure.

Tara provides Telehealth psychology support for adolescents aged 13+ and adults living with diabetes, with particular insight into Type 1 diabetes and the emotional realities that can come with it.

When diabetes affects more than just your numbers

Diabetes can affect far more than physical health. It can influence mood, confidence, self-worth, relationships, body image, motivation, sleep, and the way everyday life feels.

Sometimes people feel exhausted by the mental load. Sometimes they feel guilty, overwhelmed, angry, or frightened. Sometimes they feel they should be coping better than they are.

Psychological support can help create more space, perspective, and self-compassion while also helping with practical ways to manage stress, habits, and emotional wellbeing.

Common reasons people seek support

  • Diabetes distress
  • Burnout
  • Overwhelm and mental fatigue
  • Fear of getting things wrong
  • Guilt or perfectionism
  • Adjustment after diagnosis
  • Stress around self-management
  • Body image and weight concerns
  • Anxiety or low mood
  • Difficulty balancing diabetes with study, work, family, or relationships

Support that understands Type 1 diabetes from the inside as well as the outside

Tara brings personal as well as professional insight into life with Type 1 diabetes.

After being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 14, she developed a deep awareness of the challenges that can come with managing a chronic condition over time, including burnout, self-pressure, and the need to adapt without expecting perfection.

That personal understanding complements her professional work in diabetes-related care, education, and support.
